Eco-tours in Kowloon and NT
Trainings completed
, Mock Tours are open for application

Over 60 eco-guides have just completed their trainings and exams. They are ready for public tours starting in September 2010.

They are the eco-guides of the Eco-tours in Kowloon and NT project. The 60 potential eco-guides, 30 per district, have gone through a series of intensive trainings like lectures, site visits, assignments, practical exams and written exams regarding the heritage and ecology of TST and Kam Tin. These trainings prepared them to become qualified eco-guides who will lead a total of 48 public tours in the fall.

Despite the intense schedule, many have completed the training with rich knowledge of heritage, history and ecology of the area. To better prepare them for the public tour, mock tours will be held in August 2010 for practices. In this regard, CA members and volunteers will have the privilege to be their ‘facilitators’ – not only enjoy the tours in advance but also give valuable suggestions to the guides. Interested audience can refer to the details below.

In addition to the tours, an online map will be created to further promote the routes. Also, free MP3 downloads  will be prepared in 3 languages – Cantonese, English and Mandarin. Public may enjoy the routes by themselves with the illustrations of the maps and MP3. More details will be released in winter 2010.

The Eco-tours in Kowloon and NT project is funded by ECC and ECF.

During site visits, trainers explained the features of each of the check-points, with coaching of presentation skills and techniques.

During the practical exams, a team of 2-3 potential eco-guides practiced their presentations and introduced each of the check-points to the examiners.

In the Practical Exam, a candidate gave a vivid presentation that her fellow showed a thump-up as a compliment. We are glad to see that the candidates were showing support and encouragement to each other.
